About Pionsys IT GmbH
We are a Carinthian business based in Liebenfels, specializing in the development of hardware-related software and firmware. Our highly motivated team supports customers throughout every phase of their projects.
We are specialized in the development of firmware and hardware-related software, typically with C and/or C++. Since 2003 we have successfully implemented over 100 projects, e.g.:
- The PC-based measurement and diagnostic system DTA X-Tools with Siemens AG, including firmware for some of the devices that send their data to the X-Tools.
- Firmware and server software for telematics devices with GPS, GSM, RFID, CAN, USB, RS232, RS485 and I/O interfaces from several manufacturers.
- Firmware and PC software for devices for stabilizing film and television cameras (gimbals).
- Bootloader for cascadable, verified and secured firmware updates on networked devices with multiple update-capable processors.
- Firmware for various 3D printers from several manufacturers.
Our customers benefit from:
- Short time-to-market times: Your product comes to market as quickly as possible without neglecting of quality.
- Optimal technical solutions: Tailor-made and powerful so that your firmware and software can meet current and future requirements.
- Proven implementation: Our experience from many successful projects is applied to your project, ensures a smooth process and minimizes risks.
- Full support from our team of experts: Your project benefits from our in-depth and very broad technical knowledge.
Pionsys is an artificial word made up of „Pion“ for „pioneer“ and „sys“ for „systems“ … with our products and services we always want to use those solutions that correspond to the current state of the art and at the same time do not shoot beyond the target of the respective requirements!
Projects
We continuously support companies in realizing their projects, bringing both our experience and additional resources to the table. Our largest projects to date include:
- Siemens AG – DTA X-Tools (since 2002)
We develop an IEEE1394-based measurement- and diagnoses system with the Siemens AG in Germany. DTA X-Tools provides decentralized I/O-nodes which are interconnected and connected to the PC via IEEE1394, Ethernet or other interfaces. With sample intervals of up to 192 kHz per channel, data is sent from the I/O-nodes to the PC. Thereby the Pionsys 1394 Device-API is used for the entire communication with up to 62 I/O-nodes at the same time. In addition to our IEEE1394-specific know-how, we coordinate the software development and perform the technical project management of the DTA X-Tools project, including the coordination of the interfaces between hard- and software modules of the whole system.
- Bootloader for STM and Microchip Processors (since 2022)
Specification (English), documentation (English) and development (CLion, Visual Studio Code, Conan, Makefiles, J-Link, Olimex) of bootloader mechanisms (MCUboot, UART, updates, rollbacks) for cascadable, verified and secured (public/private key certified) firmware updates on networked (LTE, Bluetooth, LAN) devices with multiple update-capable processors.
- Camera Systems (since 2021)
Specification (German and English), documentation (German and English) and development of firmware (STM32CubeIDE, C, C++) and software (Visual Studio, C++, Windows) for devices which are used to operate cameras in the scope of movie and television production.
- Camera Stabilisation (since 2013)
Creation of the system architecture and specification (German and English), implementation of the firmware (TrueSTUDIO, STM32CubeIDE, C) and PC software (Visual Studio, C++, Windows) for devices used to stabilize movie and television cameras (gimbals).
- TinkerForge Integration (from 2020 until 2025)
Development of a PC application based on the DTA X-Tools Development Kit (Visual Studio, C++, Windows) for various components from the TinkerForge ecosystem (e.g. acceleration sensors, brightness sensors, altimeters, CO2 sensor, distance sensor, dust detector, humidity sensors, motion sensors, microphones, temperature sensors, analog and digital inputs, …) to be integrated into the Siemens AG – DTA X-Tools. This data can be recorded, visualized, processed and stored in DTA X-Tools together with the data from all other sources.
Collaboration with SILICON ALPS
With over 20 years of expertise in software development, we contribute technical know-how and innovative strength to the Silicon Alps Cluster. Our aim is to support cluster partners in implementing their projects and to collectively shape the digital future of the region.
For us, the cluster is a vital platform for exchange, partnerships, and addressing current challenges together. Through networking and mutual support, we create added value—for our customers, the region, and its technological progress.
