Cross Cluster Webinar // EXPORT ACADEMY | Britain post Brexit

Opportunities & Risks | Taxes & Customs when exporting and importing goods and services.

On December 31, 2020, the Brexit transition period ended, the United Kingdom thus left the EU single market, the customs union & the harmonized VAT territory and thus also practically became a third country. A few days before that, the negotiating partners were able to agree on a trade and cooperation agreement after all, which regulates the relations between the EU and the UK with immediate effect. Nevertheless, there will be massive changes for the business transactions of domestic companies, including the export and import of goods and services to and from the UK.

  • How can goods be exported to or sourced from the UK from 2021?
  • What tax law changes will result for the provision of services in the UK?
  • Customs declarations, origin calculations, customs rates & taxes – What do I have to pay attention to from now on?

We will answer these and other questions during our live webinar.

Our experts:

Christian Kesberg, Austrian Business Delegate in London
The economic delegate gives a mood and status quo on the current Brexit situation in the United Kingdom.

Christian Haid, customs law expert at the legal service of WKO Styria
The customs law expert will use concrete examples to show you which changes will result for exports to the UK and imports from the UK for domestic companies: Customs declarations, origin, customs rates, taxes, documentation and much more.
“As a result of Brexit, the United Kingdom has changed from a member state of the EU to a third country as of 01.01.2021. This has far-reaching effects on business transactions, especially in the movement of goods. Even the agreement on a trade agreement at the last moment has not changed this. Customs clearance will remain, even if a large proportion of goods can now be imported duty-free in the respective partner country.”
