Travel Report: Fact Finding Mission Belgium & the Netherlands with the DSP Valley Cluster
From Monday, Mai 7 to Wednesday May 9, 2018 the Silicon Alps delegation – with participants from industry, science and the public sector – participated in this year’s fact-finding mission to explore two of the worldwide renown hotspots regarding future trends in microelectronics, namely Leuven (Belgium) and Eindhoven (the Netherlands). This trip was the first one in a row of our „Cluster visits Cluster(s)“ series and will be continued next year in the Grenoble region in France.
Outstanding institutions and organisations such as the world-leading R&D and innovation hub imec (Interuniversity Microelectronics Center) and the High Tech Campus Eindhoven, the place to meet researchers, developers and entrepreneurs represented some of the highlights for the participants. Furthermore, the Leuven Health House, inaccessible to the public, allowed the delegation to gain rare insights and hands-on experience regarding future health technologies. Meetings with other clusters and research organisation like DSP Valley, B-HIVE, KU Leuven and vito finally provided a glimpse in the current and future trends and their current work regarding microelectronics, digital technologies and adjacent areas and applications.
Opening up new horizons, seeing and discussing cutting edge technology, establishing relationships and getting inspiration for new business opportunities rounded up these eventful days.
