Afterword: Spot on RFID

The 30 or so guests at SPOTonRFID┬áon 18 June in Klagenfurt’s Lakeside Park were very satisfied and rated the conference positively.┬áIn addition to a film presentation, there were comprehensive insights into the DeSSnet research project.┬á

The focus of the event in Lakeside Park in Klagenfurt was the history of RFID technology: past, present and future. In addition to a film screening of RFID’s history produced by the RFID Cluster Focus Group, there was comprehensive insight into the current status of the research project DeSSnet. Firstly, Herwig Zeiner from Joanneum Research gave an overview of the research project Dependable secure time-aware sensor networks. Andreas Kerceck from Lakeside Labsintroduced the research office and the self-organised setup of wireless sensor networks. Afterwards, the two SMEs participating in the research project explained their roles and tasks. (Messfeld GmbH– Christina Gaugeler and IoT40 Systems GmbH– G├╝nther Bauer)

The film made by the RFID Cluster Focus Group about the founding history of RFID technology was presented and discussed. The group and the Silicon Alps Cluster are still discussing the further orientation and use of the film, which received consistent good reviews.

To conclude, the participants took the opportunity to visit the stands of CISC, Xammon and erfideo to inform themselves about technological developments, and to network at the buffet.

The next SPOTonRFID event will take place on 17 October in Graz. We look forward to welcoming you at future Silicon Alps events.
