Silicon Alps SpotLight: New materials and material technologies for innovations in microelectronics
When: 17.05.2018, from 12.30 to approx. 17:30
Where: Leoben, Impulszentrum Werkstoffe, 4. und 5. Floor
The goals of understanding and specifically influencing the properties of materials so that they can be accordingly processed and further enable innovations strongly characterize the work of researchers at Materials Center Leoben, Polymer Competence Center Leoben, Erich Schmid Institut der ÖAW and Montanuniversität in Leoben. Research is being conducted into a wide variety of material classes and properties along the value chain for electronic-based systems. This knowledge is applied in the development of components and assemblies with high power densities. The focus here is on flexible substrates, new sensory and optical properties and, in general, the design for increasing reliability. The close cooperation between the individual research facilities in Leoben enables the development of multidisciplinary competences for all material classes, innovative manufacturing processes, the use of new materials for innovative devices and the integrated computer-aided simulation of materials, processes and devices.
In the present SpotLight event the experts from the abovementioned research institutions in Leoben will give an insight into how materials research supports innovations in the field of electronics. Several overview presentations and a poster exhibition will provide information on current research topics. Discussions can be conducted on the spot with experts from materials research on applications in electronics. The innovation potential of the new materials and material technologies in electronics / microelectronics is demonstrated by means of concrete examples. The program is completed by a short presentation of the Silicon Alps focus group “Sub-Systems & Integration”, networking at the buffet and laboratory tours.
We are looking forward to your participation!
