Report ELECTRONICA & SEMICON Europa 2018 | The biggest Electronica ever
With more than 80,00 visitors, an increase of 10 percent compared to the one in 2016, 182,000 square meters of exhibition space and 3,100 exhibitors from over 50 countries, the Electronica took place in Munich from November 13 to 16, 2018. Due to enormous demand and new features Electronica increased to 17 halls in 2018. In terms of the number of exhibitors, the leading countries were Germany followed by China, Taiwan, the U.S. and Great Britain (in that order).
The range of exhibits covers technologies, products and solutions from the entire electronics industry. The fair with this year’s slogan “Connecting everything – smart, safe & secure” focused on industry trends and, in doing so, helped participants stay oriented in the global world of the electronics industry. Semicon Europa, co-located with Electronica in one hall was the global exhibition for manufacturing supply chain leaders in semiconductor technologies in Europe.
Falk Senger, Managing Director of Messe München, was highly satisfied about the record results after the four days: “electronica is the most important meeting place for the electronics industry and this year recorded eight percent more exhibitors, ten percent growth in the number of visitors and a more than 20 percent increase in area. We are really pleased that exhibitors and visitors embrace the increasing relevance of electronica.” Also Christoph Stoppok, Head of Components, Mobility & Systems of the ZVEI (German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers’ Association stated that: “The positive trend in the electronics market is also continuing at electronica 2018. With ‘electronica Experience’, electronica has created a successful format to [also] inspire pupils and students for the subject of electronics.” (Link)
This year the Silicon Alps Cluster, together with some of its cooperations partners Bright Red System GmbH, Katronik Group and T.I.P.S. Messtechnik GmbH was represented at the booth of Wirtschaftskammer Kärnten together with the Carinthian companies wtronic electronic production gmbh, Astron Electronic GmbH and Tronitec GmbH – in Hall B1, Booth 524.
Furthermore, Silicon Alps cooperation partners such as Infineon, NXP, Lam Research Germany, EPCOS, Flex, Intel, Electronic Trade PCB, SVI Austria, Yole Développement were represented with their booths.
The Silicon Europe Alliance as well as single cluster organisations such as Silicon Saxony, Minalogic and High Tech NL belonging to the Silicon Europe Alliance were present and hosted various of their cooperation partners and received visitors from around the world at Electronica and Semicon, as well.
The upcoming Productronica, the International Fair for innovative electronic production will take place in Munich from November 12 to 15, 2019. Semicon Europa will be co-loacted with it. The next Electronica, the world’s leading trade fair and conference for components, systems applications and solutions will take place from in Munich from November 10 -13, 2020.
