My creative career began during my training at the Higher Technical Education Institute with a training focus on industrial design. In addition to drawing, drafting and designing, the education here was also on the training of graphic skills as well as the technical implementation of design projects with the help of model building.

Afterwards I’ve started my studies on media and communication sciences and strengthen at the same time my interest in film work. Through an internship at a film company I gained practical knowledge in the editorial work of various TV short films as well as in the production management of various other film projects. In addition to my skills in film production and postproduction, I’ve collected a lot of experience in DTP design, which I’m now using for Silicon Alps.

2003 – 2013 University of Graz, Applied Linguistics, English Literature and Media Studies

Marketing & PR Director

As a passionate linguist, strategic forward thinker, innovation nerd and outdoor-enthusiast, I see modern-day marketing as so much more than boasting with neat designs and screeching claims, but as the foundation of and the key to any successful business development.

Before I came to Silicon Alps, I spend over a decade in the Alpine Winter Sports Industry working on concepts that increased the value of European skiing resorts and tourism for winter sports enthusiasts. With the agency Young Mountain Marketing, I was responsible for the Overall Marketing and Communication Development of the company and its brands. Over the years I not only got the chance to be part of a growing business from a handful of employees to +250 and heading a high-performing marketing team of 25 skilled creative colleagues and many more in the network. Apart from the successful strategic and structural lead, my main contribution was to establish and maintain a truly unique company culture of creativity, respect and efficiency through the continuous work on crafting and telling the company’s and all stakeholder’s story in beautiful words and pictures.

As of October of 2020, I take the opportunity to push the Marketing, Communication and Public Relations of the Silicon Alps Cluster forward. My dedication goes into making all the magnificent efforts of all our partners and people working within the field of EBS technologies visible.

Dr. Manfred Hall

2016 – 2021 M&R Automation / PIA Automation Austria

2009 – 2016 Styrian Business Promotion Agency (SFG)

2005 – 2009 University of Graz

2003 – 2005 Interdisciplinary Research Centre for Technology, Work and Culture (IFZ)

Strategic Business Development

During my education in the natural sciences at the University of Graz, I was able to gain my first experience in interdisciplinary cooperation at the IFZ. As the knowledge transfer representative of the University of Graz, the first accents as a networker were then set. Solution and cooperation partners from science for SMEs were sought – and found. I immersed myself in the world of clusters as part of my work at SFG: As a key account manager, my responsibilities were to oversee the mobility, food and human technology clusters. In the fields of electronics, measurement and control technology, I set impulses with initiatives such as the RFID hotspot Styria or the event series “Digitaldialog”. A transition to the industry followed in order to learn more about a company’s everyday work, research, and related needs.

As a Strategic Business Development Manager, I can now bring my experience and network from science and business as well as my knowledge of “cluster business” to my daily work at Silicon Alps –  to generate added value for our partners. True to the motto: cluster > prosper > conquer!

“The key to success is not information. It’s people.” (Lee Iacocca)
